About the Event
The National Science Foundation (NSF), was created in 1950 by Congress to support basic research to create knowledge that transforms the future. In 1992, NSF awarded a contract to a Black-owned business, Network Solutions Inc. (NSI), headquartered in Herndon, VA. NSI was tasked to link the world to the Internet for the first time and promote the use of this technology. In 1993, NSI launched the internet addressing system that we know today.
This invitation-only reception will celebrate the legacy of Network Solutions, Inc. founders, Emmit McHenry, Tyrone Grigsby, Edward Peters, Gary Desler, former employees, and families from 1979-1995.
About Digital Growth and Education, Inc.
Digital Growth and Education Inc. is a nonprofit organization focusing on helping minority children and youth in Urban and Rural areas of the United State. Our Mission is to prepare children and youth to be better prepared in the Digital Economy. This includes providing them with tutoring, counseling, and equipment/supplies. Also, to provide guidance on how to become successful businesspeople in the Digital economy.
Many in this population have been deprived of educational support and guidance for several years due to the Pandemic. Some studies have shown that Minority children and youth have fallen behind in their education and grade level. This is a severe problem for our society unless we provide them with additional educational assistance and guidance.

Join us for a reception to celebrate the legacy of Network Solutions, Inc. founders, former employees, and families from 1979-1995. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $25/per person and can be purchased below.
